OK, so I've brought with me some really boring clothes, none of which really suit me, and I think that just about sums it up.

Self esteem

| have always thought that I had self esteem issues, but it was only when someone on another forum told me to use a full length mirror that I realised how bad I was. My dressing table mirror is covered in scarves, the full length mirror that Mum had is now behind a chest of drawers, the bathroom mirror is a shaving one, and the mirror in the hall I have taught myself not to look in.

When I stay in the hotel, there is a hook over the mirror so I use it to hang my coat. The other mirrors I just ignore.
I am going to try making some tops for myself, so that it has the double advantage of being a proper fit, and also moneysaving.

I forgot to update, but I do have an excuse

I haven't updated this for a while, but as some people know, there has been a fair amount of family trauma going on. My mum was taken to hospital by ambulance and was in danger of losing her leg at one point, due to thrombosis. We were also told that she may not live through the night, which sort of makes you re-assess things. One of the things is family members, well meaning or otherwise. We, the immediate family, were upset enough; visiting was very restricted, so when other family members took it into their heads to keep on visiting, it was hard to be tactful. Another is friends. I don't know where I'd have been without mine, but we had a problem with Mum's friends. Mainly because we didn't know who they were; we had her address book, but no way of know if she'd want us to tell these people, were they friends who would care, or just people she'd met. 

As she’d been involved in local politics, some of them could just have been people she was helping.

 A certain 'gentleman friend', we didn't know the nature of the relationship (well you don't ask your mum stuff like that) although she's known him for a few years.

Card made for sisters birthday - hope she doesn't look on here before then! But if I don't do it now, I'll forget.



A4 hammer white card, bits and bobs cut out from old cards, or random bits of card. Pink insert and peel off stickers from stock. Only thing bought were the shoe confetti. Pinched the handbag idea, think it works really well.

The ducks looked very confused this morning; the wall they are swimming over is 6ft, and is at the side of the walkway which is normally 3 ft above the river level.

Being a bit too British

I was going to post this 'elsewhere' but changed my mind.

Staying in a hotel in Shrewsbury that I regularly stay in, small, family run, glorified B&B really.

Just done the typical British thing, of not really complaining when something is wrong. I'm in a different room, but still got the freeview, had been here half an hour and the pipes started banging; tried to do all sorts, turned the radiator down, ran the hot water tap, but it didn't stop so went and told the owner. But did it in quite an apologetic, sorry its my fault sort of way. He went straight to the room next door and adjusted something. Fixed it. So off I went for something to eat. Came back and there it was again. If I was American, I'd have demanded a different room; and some money back etc. But they were so apologetic, I couldn't. It's something to do with the people next door adjusting the valve on their radiator, somehow affects mine and I get an airlock. That and the fact that I'm coming back here again, and otherwise it suits me fine.

New Year, new start.

Have packed my lovely new holdall ready for the journey to Shropshire, complete with all the little toiletries. I'm also taking some card and my camera, as I want to re-use a lot of this years cards. Maybe treat myself to a cuttlebug.

But actually, having succumbed to the lurgy, haven't been updating anything very much.

So need to work out challenges for the year, goals for the future etc. for another blog I'm part of. I also need to update CV, and maybe do an online course.
